About Melissa T. Seale

Melissa Seale is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and small-business owner running for the 45th State Senate District. According to her campaign, she lives and works in the North Country, where her career has centered on helping children, parents and schools deal with mental and behavioral health needs, particularly in rural areas with limited services. She founded Well Child Psychiatric and the Well Child Foundation, which her campaign describes as efforts to widen access to mental health care for young people, with an emphasis on early intervention and coordination with families and schools. She has not previously held elected office, according to her campaign materials. Her campaign says she would work to expand primary, pediatric and mental health services, including telehealth and care based in schools; push for fair and dependable school funding; extend high-speed broadband; and support small businesses, family farms and local transportation and infrastructure projects.

About Daniel G. Stec

Dan Stec has represented the 45th State Senate District since January 2021. A Queensbury native, he was the first in his family to attend college and earned a chemical engineering degree from Clarkson University, followed later by an MBA from the University of Rhode Island. He spent eight years in the Navy nuclear power program, including service as an engineer aboard the USS Truxtun during Operation Desert Storm. Back in Queensbury, he served on the town council and as town supervisor for five terms, and twice chaired the Warren County Board of Supervisors. He served four terms in the State Assembly before moving to the Senate, where he is ranking member on the Environmental Conservation and Internet and Technology committees. His campaign says his priorities include repealing bail reform and the HALT Act, limiting executive power, and expanding rural broadband and cell service.
