James “Jim” LaFave has announced he will seek election to the Ogdensburg City Council in a November special election. He was appointed to the council in June to fill a vacancy created by Michael Powers’ resignation and is serving through the end of the year.
LaFave is being challenged by write-in candidate Shannon Furgison-Thornhill. His stated priorities include fiscal responsibility, transparency, accountability, public safety, economic development, responsible growth, strong neighborhoods and careful stewardship of taxpayer dollars. He has lived in Ogdensburg for more than 40 years and serves on the Ogdensburg Housing Authority Board.
