Massena residents split over proposed data center moratorium
Residents expressed support and opposition at a Massena town meeting about data centers and a possible moratorium.

Residents took opposing positions on data centers and a possible moratorium during a Massena town meeting Wednesday. The meeting began at 4:30 p.m., with attendees speaking both for and against a moratorium.
Supporters said Massena should pursue new industry and argued that a moratorium could discourage developers. Opponents raised concerns about the amount of energy data centers could use and their potential effect on water and other natural resources.
Former village Mayor Jim Hidy also urged residents at a recent meeting to learn more before rejecting data centers in the community.
