Two people were arrested after an SUV fled an attempted U.S. Border Patrol stop in Massena, officials said. The pursuit involved State Route 37 and Tripanny Road and ended when the SUV struck a Border Patrol vehicle.
Officials said the vehicle had entered the United States without inspection through the Akwesasne Territory. They said it failed to yield, reversed direction and fled in a way that posed a serious threat to other drivers. Spike strips were deployed, but the SUV continued moving, officials said.
The two occupants were arrested at the scene. State and federal charges are pending, and the Border Patrol investigation remains ongoing. Video of the pursuit circulated on social media.
