The apartment building at 661 Factory Street in Watertown has been sold to DP Development and Properties, LLC for $290,000. The sale also includes a small building next door on Fairbanks Street, according to city records cited in reports about the transaction.
DP Development and Properties is associated with Daniel Powell of the Town of Watertown. The buyer’s plans for the properties have not been announced.
The Factory Street building was condemned in summer 2021 after officials cited problems with its fire alarm system, plumbing and electrical hazards, and infestations of bedbugs and cockroaches. About 40 tenants were forced to leave at the time, amid concerns about limited housing for low-income residents in Jefferson County.
The building has previously been used by the Jefferson County Department of Social Services to house people. It reopened in 2023 with one first-floor unit occupied by the department, according to earlier reporting.
The property was also the site of a murder investigation in August 2026. Police said a woman was found dead in an apartment there on Aug. 4, and a suspect was charged with second-degree murder. The suspect pleaded not guilty Aug. 18.
Property records and future city code-enforcement activity may provide additional information about the parcels and any plans for the buildings.
