The Watertown City School Board has designated an asbestos discovery at the high school an emergency and approved up to $250,000 to address it.
Asbestos was found in an office and three classrooms, including one used for study hall. Three asbestos management companies submitted bids ranging from $110,000 to $250,000. Air-quality testing will be required before affected rooms can be reoccupied, and Superintendent Dr. Larry Schmiegel is expected to recommend a bidder next week.
