Watertown’s seasonal overnight parking restriction will return Nov. 1, barring vehicles from parking on all city streets between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. through April 30. The City of Watertown says the rule allows Department of Public Works crews to clear snow during overnight hours.

The restriction is established under city ordinance section 293-21c, titled “All night seasonal parking restrictions.” The ordinance includes an exception for physicians responding to emergency calls. Vehicles parked in violation may be fined and towed.

On-street parking is generally allowed from May 1 through Oct. 31, except in areas marked with No Parking signs. Separate prohibited parking zones remain in effect year-round.

The city lists free downtown municipal parking lots on Stone Street, State Street, Arcade Street, Court Street, JB Wise, Newell Street East and West, and Union Street. These lots may be an option for residents who do not have driveways or other off-street parking.

The city also says property owners are responsible for clearing snow from private sidewalks and driveways. Residents are asked to keep fire hydrants clear.

For snow-removal questions or after-hours emergencies, the Department of Public Works can be reached at (315) 785-7842. The office is at 557 Newell St. and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Emergencies should be directed to 911. Updates and parking information are available through the City of Watertown’s public parking page and snow-removal page.
