Ogdensburg officials are considering bringing back regular public updates on the city website to give residents more information about municipal projects and services. The proposal was raised during a recent City Council meeting by Councilor Dan Skamperle.
City Manager Fonda Chronis said the city could aim to publish a new update at the start of 2027 and place the work on its priority list. Skamperle proposed updates every two weeks, with project information included while confidential details were withheld.
The city previously posted updates modeled on weekly reports provided to councilors. Skamperle said the last public update on the website was posted in September 2023.
The discussion included concerns about residents having difficulty finding basic information online. Deputy Mayor Jennifer Stevenson supported placing public updates prominently on the city's homepage. Mayor Michael Tooley also supported the idea.
Residents have asked about projects including East David Street and the former Diamond National property. Skamperle said a request for proposals involving the Diamond National project was underway.
Chronis said he holds office hours from 5 to 5:45 p.m. on City Council meeting days, giving residents an opportunity to ask questions. Council meetings are held at City Hall, 330 Ford Street, and are livestreamed. City information is available through the Ogdensburg News Flash page and the Mayor and City Council page.
